Hi Backers, thank you for your patience. Your rewards will be shipped out in this month soon!
All the development work is almost done and all the key components are collected, so the devices are ready to be assembled! Please have a final check at your Backerkit survey to confirm the address there is up to date since the surveys will be locked down soon.
Some other updates for you:
1. We have added multiple IR LEDs into SwitchLink to make it possible to replace all your IR remote control like what the Logitech harmony does. Retrofitting all devices for IoT is our mission and you guys will find more of our products aims at this later.
2. We are working on the Amazon Echo skills to let an Echo control your bots directly without the help of IFTTT.
3. More and more smart products are integrated with SwitchBot like this one :

1. All SwitchBots sent out on Jan were received! Right?
Great to know all SwitchBots sent out on Jan were received and thanks for your feedback! Some comments were collected below.
Please note that this first round shipping is only for backers: 1) did not order SwitchLink or light switch add-on. 2) Answered surveys before Jan 20th.
Replacing a CR2 battery is SUPER easy, just open the cover and you may know how to do next.

2. Yes, our community and Github repository were built!
If you are a maker keen to control bots via your own tools, go ahead to check out our opensource projecthere. This project aims to provide a super light-weight solution to control your SwitchBot on Raspberry Pi/OpenWRT or any other Linux based board. Feel free to let us know what kind of projects you want most! We are looking forward to your contributions. :)
3. SwitchBot has passed CE, FCC, ROHS certifications.
4. Wall switch add-on and SwitchLink.
Sorry to say we are still unable to send out to backers who ordered light switch add-on or SwitchLink.
(1) Wall switch add-on: A good news is that the functionality and reliability test of the wall switch add-on went well! But, our ID designer was not satisfied with its shape and material. So we need to ask our factory to cut tooling for the revised add-on which may take one more month. Really sorry about this. Since this add-on was proposed in the mid-term of our campaign, the preparing time is limited.
(2) SwitchLink: We have almost re-designed this product…
a) Housing. We are proud that we designed a cloud like gateway linking SwitchBots to cloud. With the internal 4 (upgraded to 6 now) x 1600w colors LEDs we can realize many kinds UI/UX. But the previous SwitchLink housing cannot properly diffuse the LEDs light because of its depth, material and shape. So, we have to revise the ID as the one showing in the video below. Due to the camera’s limitation, the actual effect is better than the video.
b) Hardware. We claimed that SwitchLink can control bots 80m away in open field. And actually as we test near a beach the range can be up to 100m. But backers familiar with Bluetooth must know BLE is not good at passing through wall, so it is necessary to improve its TX power and RX sensitivity since it is a gateway. To achieve this an external PA/LNA was added to the board, however, the receive sensitivity had no difference i.e. the LNA is useless. In order to improve the range, we decide to upgrade our Bluetooth chipset and re-design our PCBA which may gain 50% range improvements. Furthermore, we are adding some sensors to the board.
c) Software and cloud service. Previously we ran the cloud service on our own VPS with self-defined protocol and framework. For better reliability and expandability, we are moving to the AWS IoT.
We need time to do optimization mentioned above especially the ID modification which needs factory’s support. So please give us 1.5 monthsmore for fulfillment. Sorry to say this. Please trust us it will worth the wait.
March is a tough (ID, mechanical, hardware, software, cloud, manufacturing… crazy) month and we are running at full speed. NO DELAY! The January shipping is ready!

Hey Backers
Sorry for keeping you guys waiting this month, since we were very busy with the first round production to catch up with the January shipping we promised to you. And now, we are proud to say the first round production was completed and all the products were passed to our shipment partner! No delay! Everything is on schedule.
Now please let me answer the questions we received in these days one by one.
1. Why didn’t I receive the survey?
We have divided all backers into two groups – January shipping and March shipping. The surveys for the January shipping backers were sent and those answered surveys were locked down and ready to ship. The surveys for the March shipping backers like you are still pending, since we thought some backers will inevitably move and manually managing address changes can get quite cumbersome if we send too early. Let us know if you think sending now is better, thanks.
2. Who will receive the products in this round?
The backers answered surveys before 1/21/2017. The shipping date for the backers who selected the light switch add-on or Switch Link will be postponed, since we need at least two months for the light switch add-on reliability test.
3. When can I receive the products in this round?
We will update the tracking numbers to you guys later via Backerkit emails after we get updates from our shipment partner.
4. How about the March shipping?
Don’t worry. Everything is on schedule. We believe that talk is cheap, we show our works.
I must say January is a very special month… It is between the Christmas Day and the Chinese New Year. So it is hard to handle the supply chain and source a factory to do the assembling of small batch. Moreover we are not satisfied with some components designed previously (like the gearbox and packing box), so we have to re-work on them. Now, all problems have been solved to fulfill our promise to you.

You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you are all good to go! You will be able to answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more “add-ons” if you'd like.
